We’re Zicklin Contracting, and for 37 years we’ve been the flat renovation contractor Bushwick artists, coders, bartenders, and young families trust when it’s time to stop saying “it’s fine” and start saying “come over, you have to see this.”

We’ve renovated raw lofts off the Jefferson L, sixth-floor walk-ups on Troutman, and everything in between. Half our guys ride their bikes here from Ridgewood or Bed-Stuy; they already know which bodega has the good cold brew and which super will let you use the freight elevator if you ask nice. We get the vibe because we’re part of it.
We’ve carried 300-pound steel I-beams up fire escapes at 6 a.m. so the neighbors don’t murder us. We’ve turned 400-square-foot studios into places that somehow sleep four when your friends crash after a show at Elsewhere. Bushwick is in our blood.

We slide into your place after work or before your brunch shift. You play whatever playlist is on repeat, we drink the beer you offer, and we talk about what’s gotta change.
A week later you get moody renderings, a mood board that looks like your Pinterest came to life, and a quote that doesn’t make you cry. We deal with DOB, the alt-2, and whatever random C of O drama your building has.
Demo day is loud but fast. We zip-wall the hallway so the painter on 4R doesn’t hate us, and we haul debris out at night so the street stays chill.
Our crew (half of them live in Bushwick or Ridgewood) shows up in the same hoodies every day, blasts reggaeton or lo-fi beats, and builds your dream while somehow keeping the vibe relaxed.
Final week: we clean like we’re moving in ourselves. You do the walkthrough barefoot because the floors are that perfect. We fix anything that’s not 100%, hand over the keys, and take a selfie in front of the new island.
